N.J. Amar, M.D. was the top graduate in his medical school and his pediatric residency in India.  After a few years of practice in India, he completed pediatric residency at Downstate Medical School in New York and a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology in pediatrics at Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey and  internal medicine at Columbia University in New York City.

Dr. Amar is board certified by both The American Board of Pediatrics and The American Board of Allergy & Immunology.  He is a Fellow of The American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI) and The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology(FACAAI).  In addition, he is certified by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and APPI as a Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) in research.  He is also a member of the McLennan County Medical Society, Texas Medical Associaion, The American Medical Associaion, and the Joint Council of Allergy and Asthma.

Dr. Amar has excelled though his education and career with numerous awards.  He was valedictorian of his high school class and top graduate of his medical school and residency classes.  For these notable achievements, Dr. Amar was awarded three gold medals in India, the highest medical honor bestowed to Indian physicians.  As a dedicated physician and clinical researcher, he has been named as on of the Best Doctors in America and also included in the prestigious list of America's Top Physicians.

Dr. Amar comes from a family of physicians beginning with his father, his wife, both of his children, 5 siblings and their spouses.

Dr. amar has been practicing medicine in Waco since 1982.  He practiced as a solo practitioner in Waco for 24 years and recently welcomed two well qualified associates who share his philosophy of treating patients with compassion, respect, and fairness.

Ten years ago, Dr. Amar started the Allergy Asthma Research Institute for the advancement of treatments in his specialty of Allergy and Immunology.  He has conducted almost 100 clinical trials and has authored or co-authored numerous research articles.
